WELLINGTON, August 22. With a substantial improvement m sbipments of tyres from overseas. there are now sufficient supplies in New Zealand of most car and trucn sizes to warrant their removal from rationing control. This was announced by the Minister of In duslries and Commerce, Mr. Nord meyer, tonigbt. He added that permits would no longer he requiied for the purchase of car and truck tyres. "lt should be emphasised that while there were adequate supplies oi tyres a/ailable in most sizes, it was still necessary to exercise caution m their use, ' ' said the Minister. ' ' This applied particularly to the 19-inch and 2I-inch groups because tbe manu facturers will not be making them in quantities sufficient to_ meet aJ immediate .demands. It appears Lixely that the shortage of tliese sizes wili continue over a considerable period."
