ONLY A ONE-WAY BRIDGE

MAGISTRATE'S VIEW OF OHAU STRUCTURE Some plain speaking on conditions existing at the Ohau Bridge was done by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, Levin, yesterday, when summing up at the end of the hearing of a claim for damages arising from one * of the numerous collisions which have occurred there. The approach from the southern end was deceptive, said Mr. Goulding. Moreover, a sign at one end declared it to be a "one-way bridge, while at Ihe other end another sign said it was a "narrow bridge" when it -was obviously that. "In the interests of road safety it is only a one-way bridge." He suggested that the- police or 'traffic officer communicate with the authorities and have it made a oneway bridge. Mr. Goulding made these comments after adjourning the case and having a constable and solicitor take measurements at the oridge in regard to different points jf visibility.
