WELLINGTON, August 21. Fire gutted a scction o4' the premise.of New Zealand Motor Bodies, Ltti. Petone, today, eausing heavy damage. Tlie lire broke out about niidday in the paint sliop :it the factory situated at the eorner of Jackson Street and llutt Road. When the brigade arrived the tiames were bursting through the wails and the roof had eauglit aliglit. Within a short tiine the lire was extinguished. The electricai instalhitions were inimedialely r^*paired and work was ro sumed in ihe unal'feeted departnienis ■within an h-nir and a-half of the ourbreal:. Tlie paint sliop was badlv damaged as was the trim sliop. The iinishing department located directly lieneath the ])aint sliop, was damaged by water and eoulcl not be used today.
