SHELL-PINK GOWN FOR SHANNON BRIDE

roach-thomson wedding Nuptial mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Foley following the early morning wedding on Saturday, August 9, of Ngaire- Isabel, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Thomson, Nathan Terrace, Shannon (late of Featherston) , to Thomas Stickle, third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Roach, Stout Street, Shannon. To witpess the ceremony relatives and friends journeyed from Picton, Wanganui, Wellington, the Wairarapa and Taranaki distr-icts to join a goodly number of local folk, the gathering completely fllling St. Joseph's Roman Catholi'c Church. The green walls of the nave and the cream colouring of the sanetuary, with the many crystal vases of pale pink camellias arranged in tiers on the altar, as well as on the side wall brackets, blended with the rambow-coloured frocks of the bridal party. The fair bride, a symphony in pink, was given in marriage by her father. She was becomingly dressed in a gown of sheil pink white embroidered organza, plainly cut,' the bodice featuring a square lace yoke and long bell sleeves trimmed ; at the wide end with lace comingj to an upward point. The skirt was fashioned into a long rounded train, over which flowed a delicate pink silk embroidered tulle veil, gathered to the head and held in t place with a pink orchid. She carried a dainty bouquet of Otaki pink carnations and maidenhair fem tied with ribbon. j Mrs. I. B. Rae, of Palmerston; North, the bride's sister, was ■ matron of honour. Her pretty, ! long frock of green marquisette j over taffeta was made with ai bodice pointed back and front at1 the waistline, featuring a square j transparent lace yoke, edged with; a narrow frill and bishop sleeves.: The two bridesmaids, Miss Eileen! Brophy, of Okato, New Plymouth, i and Miss Joyce Pigott, of Shannon,] were similarly attired, only in bluei and lemon« marquisette, with the ! difference that their frocks had j elhow-length sleeves and they : wore mittens. Matching the colour] of their dresses all three wore j shoulder-length embroidered net j veils, held to the head with curledj feathers, and they carried dainty; bouquets of yellow tulips, blue ' grape hyacinths and maidenfair fern tied with ribbon. Mr. V. Tippler attended the : bridegroom as bestman and the j groomsmen were Messrs. Pat Roach i (brother of the bridegroom) and T.i W. Thomson (brother of the bride) . Mrs. J. Creagh presided at the organ and played "Traumerei" by Schumann, Wagner's "Bridal March" from Lohengrin, Andante; in G and Mendelssohn's "Wedding1 March." As the bridal party prepared to move to the sacristy for the signing o'f the register, Miss Shirley Jeffrey, of Wanganui, commenced to sing Gounod's - "Ave Maria." Movie camera pictures were taken of the ceremony, and also of the bridal party grouped on the high church steps as they came out into the sunshine. A kindly gesture followed when on their way to the reception the bridal party called at the home of a lady who had been many months in bed. The bride's mother, who wore a maruia blue suit with a spray of lemon freesias. a blue hat and grey accessories, was assistI ed by the' bridegroom's mother, who was dressed in a grey tailored costume, with hat and fur coat and a spray of red cyclamen, when she received the 120 guests at the Druids' Hall, who felicitated

the newly-wedded couple before passing to their seats at the long tables decorated with spring flowers. The bride's table featured pink camellias and opposite her was a three-tiered cake, made by the bridegroom's father, beautifully iced in pale pink and ornamented with silver emblems and a silver vase of pink carnations. Mr. J. T. Bovis was toastmaster and Mrs. Creagh presided at the piano, when Miss Jelfrey delighted the assembly with a vocal number. More than 30 telegrams of good wishes were read by the bestman. Many of the j guests later went to the homes of i Mr. and Mrs. Roach and Mr. and j i Mrs. Thomson, where the many beautiful gifts to the bride and bridegroom for use in their future home in Shannon .were on view. When the happy couple left on their honeymoon, to be spent in the South Island, Mrs. Roach was ; wearing a smart sage green suit and hat with tan accessories.
