The suggested legislation provides for the oxisting national patriotic fund to be translated into a fund to be called'"the New Zealand national patriotic fund-' and for the existing board to be reeonstituted with ihe Governor-General as chairman, and as members 14 representatives from the Provineial Patriotic Oouncils, five members to be nominated by the present board (to be replaced on the' expiry of their term of office by the new board), the Under-seeretary of fntemal Affairs or -his nojninee, three representatives each from ' the R.S.A. representative each from the Second N.Z.E.F. Association and Air Force Association, and a joint representative of the Ex-Roval Naval Men's Association and Marchant Service Guild. The purpose of .tlie renamed fund is to remain as it present to provide relief to ex-servicemen and their dependents who may be in need of assistanee. The and Homeservicemen's Association, oue New Zealand patriotic fund, it is proposed, shall be the reservoir on .which provineial patriotic councils may draiv from time to time. In eonnection with the proposed canteen trust fund, it is suggested that the body be comprised of those members of the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board, who represent the exservicemen 's bodies and that the fund be used for the welfare of ex-service personnel of the Second World War. In accordance with a Government offer the Government would bear the cost of office accommodation and the salaries of the secretarv and stalf, and adminlstrative expenses.
