OTAKI BOY SCOUTS
MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the committee of the Otaki Boy Scouts was held at Mr. Frank Rule's residence on Thursday. There were present: Mr. Rule (chairman), Mesdames Meagher, Smith, Housiaux, Rule, Allan and Henwood, (Messrs. Bills, Renner, Moss, Edhouse, and the secretary (Miss Pascoe) . A^ologies for abseriee were received from Mrs. Moffatt and Mr. and Mrs. NicolsoU. It was decided to write to the Borough Council asking support on the occasion of the proposed visit of the Governor-General. It was pointed out that the GovernorGeneral was being invited to open the exhibition in his capacity of Chief Scout, and not as GovernorGeneral. Relative to the award to Mr. Moss it was decided to write to the County Commissioner and ask, if possible, that the award be presented at the exhibition. Mr. Renner reported that members of the committee were at liberty to visit the new hut on Mrs. Smith's property at any time. Mrs. Henwood reported that two nurses from the sanatorium had offered help to the committee, but that they would find it difficult to attend meetings regularly. The chairman congratulated those responsible for the success of the recent shop day when £42 17s ld was raised. Workers were accorded a vote of thanks. It was reported that the County Commissioner had been written to relative to the opening of the exhibition by the Governor-Gen-eral, and a reply received that the request had been forwarded to His Excellency. Stewards were appointed as follows for the exhibition: — Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4: Messers. Moffatt and Meagher; sections 5, 17, 18, 19 and 20: Messrs. Stephenson and Hannah; section 6: Mr. Renner; seetion 7: Mrs. Henwood; sections 10, '11, 12, 13 and 14: Messrs. Allan and Housiaux; sections 15 and 16: Mrs. Bills and Miss Doreen Bills; section 8: Miss Purvis; side shows: Messrs. Moss and Edhouse; produce stall: Mrs. Smith. It was decided to make applieation to the Horticultural Society for the use of trestles, etc., and to ask the Otaki Band to play during the afternoon on exhibition day. Messrs. Edhouse, Moss and Stephenson were appointed as advertising committee. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Rule for the use of their room. The next meeting will be held on September 11.
