Mrs. L. H. Best presided at the monthly meeting held in Laurvig's Hall. Other members present were Mesdames C. Guerin (secretary), A. R. Mills, K. Mitchell, E. Barber," U. Dujany, E. Moore, J%. StCvens, W. H. Roberts, R. H. Charter, and Miss Grace Smith. The greater part of the meeting was taken up in arranging the schedule and discussing the spring flower show which will be held on Saturday, September 27, in the Druids' Hall. Mrs. C. Guerin is the convener. The entire proceeds will go. to the fund for sending food parcels to Britain. To augment the takings there will be a stall at the show and it is hoped that everyone who can will send in any saleable articles they have to place on it. It was left in the hands of the secretary to write to the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in Wellington for ad-i dresses to send parcels to and as soon as these are to hand a day will be arranged to pack parcels. Hostesses for the refreshment booth at the monthly stock sale were arranged, all proceeds from the booth to go to the food parcels' fund. The competition winners were as follows:- Shoulder spray, Mrs. K. Mitchell I, Mesdames Stevens and Best {equal) 2, Mrs. E. Barberj 3,: fancy* apron, Mrs. Stevens 1, Mesdames Mills and Guerin (equal) J 2; three plain seones, Mrs. Guerin 1, Mrs. Mills 2, Mrs. Best 3. Competitions set for next meeting day were ! three varieties of spring flowers ; (one of each), three ginger gemsj and best homsmade handkerchief . I Afternoon tea was served by Miss 1 Grace Smith.
