Received Wednesday, 10 a.m. MADRID, Aug, 19. The Mayor of Cadiz, speaking by telephone, said: "The worst wrecked districts are San Severiano, where 25,000 live, and San Jose. Whole families are bj^ried in their homes. The damage in these areas and the whole town is enormous. Fire began in ihe torpedo -factory and not in the fertiliser plant as tirst Teported." Semi-official reports in 'Madrid say that the authorities are considering the advisability of partly evacuating Cadiz. It is also reported that fire destroyed two shipyards in Cadiz. Spanish officials .described
the explosions as the "biggest disaster of the century." Fire fighters, after 17 hours, managed to get a number of fires under control. , Rescue parties, working in the broiling sun in San Severiano and San Jose, dug out dozens of bodies from the wreckage of I houses which were blown to ! matchwood. | Hospitals throughout the j area are overflowing.
