AUCKLAND, August 18. Information that the seeond generating unit at Karapiro was expected to be under test at the end of September at the earliest but probably in October, was given by the chairman of the Auckland Electrie Power1 ho^rd, Mr. B. I. Crookes, at a board ' meet'hig. ' Mr, Crookes said this was indieated by the general-inanager of the Btate HydroHlectric Departmentj.Miv F. T. M. Kis sell, in talks in Mellington last week.Mr. Crookes said Mr. Kissel seemed fairly conlident al)out the progress on the unit which lias a capaeity of kilowatts but he could not give a date for the tliird uilit, the eonstruction ot which had been delayed th rough the discovery that an.immen.se easting was faulty. Tliere was a chance that two 16,000 kilowatt units at the Tuai station would be ready about the saine time as the second nnit at Karapiro.
