Personal Mr. Garth Tregill,. of Bunnythorpe, was a. weekend visitor to Shannon. , • Miss Shirley Sunley has returned home after spending a hpliday in Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. J. Creagh left Shannon this afternoon for. Waipawa, where Mr. Creagh has been transferred . as stationmaster. Mr: North, of the local railway staff, has received promotion to the position of stationmaster at Shannon. The friends of Mr. O; Doyle will learn with regret that he has found it necessary to enter the Palmerston North Hospital for treatment of a poisoned hand. The friends of Mr. G. W. Cundy, formerly of Shannon and now of Foxton, will be pleased to learn that he was able to leave the Palmerston North Hospital recently and is now up and about again. The funeral of the late Mr. John Ross, who was well-known locally, |took place at the Foxton cemetery j on Tuesday. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. R. Warnock, of Palmerston | North. Card Prize-Winners ! Prize-winners at the card tourhament conducted by the ■ Labour Party in Laurvig's Hall last i week were Mrs. D. McLaggan and Mr. R. Harding. There was the i usual attendance of players present. 1 A Miserable Weekend Shannon experienced a very miserable weekend. Although Saturday dawned bright and sunny, the sky clouded over late. in the morning and rain commenced to fall in the evening, continuing throughout the night and all day Sunday. Consequently, the town was very quiet, most residents being content to stay indoors.
