SHANNON PLUNKET BALL
• -v - HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION Once again the annual- ball arranged by thb Shannon subbranch of the Plunket Society wasan outstanding success. Although the weather was not the b'est on Thursday evening, the Druids'- Hall was comfortably filled. The committee must be congratulated on its efforts, as the function ran smoothly throughout. An excellent supper, served by the committee, added that final touch so necessary to. make the ball a popular one. The hall was gaily decorated for the occasion and confetti and streamers added to the gaiety. Dancing was enjoyed until an early hour on Friday morning to music supplied .by a Palmerston North professional orchestra. The contrast of colours of the many beautiful frocks made the function a colourful one. Among the ladies of the committee present were Mesdames L. Wilson (eherry georgette), F. A. Denton (navy satin crepe) , C. Tremewan (floral spun), F. Edmonds (blue figured taffeta) , E. Barber (violet crepe) , J. McNeile (wine crepe) and J. A. Creagh (floral georgette) . | Other ladies seen on the dance ! floor were Mesdames H. Williams ' (floral taffetta), C. Free (black; taffetta) , J. D. Campbell (black ninon) , S. W. Barber (floral) , F. O. j Burtt (floral jacket and black skirt) , Sister Macdonald (striped taffetta) , Mesdames Roberts (wool , crepe), Ward (floral taffetta), Ful- : ler (black corded silk), A. Hasselli (floral silk) , F. Butcher (lemon lace, C. Mortimer (wine taffetta) , ' A. Church (mauve and cyclamen taffetta), G. Lindsay (floral crepe, de chene) , D. Purcell (blue crepe) , Misses M.
