WELLINGTON, August 13. Liquor is to be sold within the preeincts of Parliament Buildings during the remainder of the term of the present, Parliament. A decision to this effeet has been made by members of both tlie House of Bepresentatives and Legislative Council in 'accordance with section 270 of the Legislature Act, 1908, wliiich provides for the taking of a poll on this issue at the first session of the General Assembly following a general election. against 9. 5 Totals: For 99, against 10. In announcing the result Mr. Speaker said there was tlierefore a majority of 89 in favour of the sale of liquor within the preeincts of Parliament Buildings. He had tlierefore given the necessary authority for liquor to be sold. General hilarity greeted tlie announcement of the result particularly when Mr. Speaker reported that thaLegislative Council had recorded one vote against the sale of liquor. There were numerous interjections, Mr. Osborne calling out were there any burnt ballot papers.
