HASTINGS, August 13. In contrastyto last week 's sale when there was an air of uncertainty in the bidding attributable to Britain 's precarious iinancial situation, the market at Stortford Lodge today was lirm and unliesitant. Tliere was a yarding oi 300 store sheep containing several at^ tractlve lots of fully grown wethers an.d the iirst of the season 's ewes and -laml)s. The latter on an "all counted" basis chaitged hands at up to 20s 9d. Forward sheep comprised the bullc of the store sheep ofl'ering and some idea of the solidarity-of the market may be gauged from the fact that wethers which, before the sale were considered .likely to bring 40s, §old at up to 42s. Auractive olferings of lroggets also claimed attention and one high country draft brought 31s indieating the con tinued buoyancy of the market. This buying Was further evicleneed by a bid of 28s. for one line of rather small ewe iambs. Striking an empty and very rec^ptive nrarket, high quality ox beef attracted animated bidding, two eonsignments, one of 12 lieavy Ilerefords and the other of seven massivo Aberdeen Angus bullocks, averaging , £25 4s 26 and £24 9s respectively. Tliere was a small varding of 120 head of beef of mixed qualitv and it met with a ready sale. Fat heifers changed hands before readv bidding at from £13 3s 6d to £16 Ss (kl and fat cows at from £11 Ss 6d to £14 16s. Jersey cows were valued from £6 1s for light tvpes up to £11 11s and dairv cows sold at from £7 18s 6d to £10 16s. Vealers brought from -£7 down to £3 10s, £3 5s and £3. One six-weeks-old brought £2.
