POSITION OF ARMIES
Received ilonday, 10.15 p.m. LONDON, August 11. Viscount Mountbatten has announc-ed that the armed forces of India and Pakistan come under the single com mand of a joint Defence Couucil after the transfer of power on August 15 reports the British United Press cor respondent at New Delhi. General Anchinleck, as commander of the British forces in India, will be Su'premt Commander of the two armies. The Viceroy will be chairman of the Couhcil. The joint arrangement Iapses after April, 1948, when tlie tAvo Dominions' forces will presumably functioi) independently.
