WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

LEVIN'S MONTHLY MEETING A good attendance of members at the Levin Women's Institute August meeting was presided over by Mrs. Kellaway. The meeting opened with the singing of the institute "Ode to Friendship," followed by the aspirations. During the month of July a party of members, including some from the Kimberley Institute, journeyed to Palmerston North to visit ihe British ar.t exhibition. The weaher was excellent and everyone had a most enjoyable time. The thought for the month, given by Mrs. Perigo, was "Never lose your temper. If you are in the right, ther there is no need for you To; if you are in the wrong, then you have no right to." The speaker for the afternoon was Sisier Wood, district nurse for Levin, who gave some very interesting details about her work and solme ' useful information about home nursing. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks by the meeting and presented with a posy of flowers. The September meeting will be a gift afternoon to help raise furds for Christmas gifts for the girls at the Levin Farm. Results of the competitions wereas follows: — Flowers: Mrs. Suhan 1, Mrs. Sharp 2, Mrs. Maugham 3. Ntew from old: Mr§. Hudson 1, Mrs. Maugham 2. Vegetables: Mrs. Sciascia 1, Mrs. Maugham 2.
