CONTROL OF MATERIALS IN AUSTRALIA
Received' Sunday, 8.50 p.m. CANBERRA, August 10. The Federal Cabinet will consider next Friday nieasures to give the Commonweath and State Parliaments greater control over the use of materials. The Government aims to divert materials from luxury industries into essentia! works. This would cut . down employment in luxury trades and force men to seek jobs in essential industries. it represents indirect control of employment though the Government will not re-mtroduce its wartime policy ot directing lahour.
