WELLINGTON, August X. The Local Governnient Gommission is now dealing with one of the majoi questions placed before it, Ihe proposed anialgamation of the six northern Ilospital Board areas of Whangaroa, ITokianga, Bay of Islands, Whangarei. Kaipara and Maunganui. The secretary to the Comnussion, Mr. F. B. Stevens said an investigation into the proposal had already begun. It was hoped to hold a public inquiry at Kaikohe on October 22 at vvhich representations would be heard. , Mr. Stevens recalled that this was one of the three nrijor questions me'n tioned by the Parliamentary Committee wliich recommended the establishment of the Comniission. Ile said the Commission would hold an inquiry at Auckland on August 2(1 and 27 into the proposed constitution of the Mount Roskill Road Board district as a borough. On August 28 and 29 it would sit at Hamilton to deal with the constitution of a domain board for the new Karapiro Domain. On September 24, 25 and 26 the Commission would conduct an inquiry at Dunedin into a proposal of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council that the countries of the ' Clutha basin be constituted a catchment djstrict and that a catchment board be set up for the area.
