Large Eel ,, , An Australian journal states that eels have been caught in the Waiorongomai Lake, Otaki, up to 35 and 40 lbs., and that it is not unlikely that a 100 lb. oue may be caught at any time. ' School Attendance Repor.ting to a meeting of the Otaki School Committee ihis week, the headmaster, Mr. J. E. James, advised that the number on the roll on August 1 was 202 boys and 185 girls, a total of 387. The average attendance was 176 boys and 161 girls, a total of 383 or 87 per cent. The general health of the children appeared to be good, added Mr. James, and the epidemic of colds had abated. Milk was now being distributed after a long period without a supply.
