ANTI-JEWISH OUTBREAKS
Received Monday, 7 p.m. . LONDON, August 4. Anti- Jewish demonstrations last night broke out in several quarters inLiVerpool. Many Jewish shops were dai'iiaged and a cabinet factory was set on fire. A strong fore'e of police Was caile'd out when a crowd of civilians and soldiers started a demonstration in rhe centre of the city's Jewish area. A crowd of 300 * to 400 persons.lhc'ludihg servicemen, -gathered outsidt a liall in Manchester where Jews were holding a social and dance. The crowd for a long time would not let the' dancers leave. Oiilookers watehed a plateglass window of a clothing shop beiug Stuashed. There were eries of "DoWn With the Jews" each time a brick was thrown. Five arrests were made at Salford and two at Manchester last night as a ■esnff of the anti- Jewish disturbances. A brick was thrown at Salford througli ihe window of a shop in which an -S(i year-old vvoman lay i 11. She died soon afterwards. Four panes of glass were broken and a noticeboard torn down at the synagogue at Hornsev. Six windows of the Ramsgate synagogue were broken. After the anti-Jewish demonstrations at Liverpool twelve people were cliarged wis (lisorderly behaviour, breakmg shop windows and assaulting the police. All were remanded.
