YOUNG MAN DROWNED WHEN BRIDGE CAPSIZES

AUCKLAND, August 4. A young man was drowned when he fell from a swing footbridge into the Upper Waiwera Sfream on Sundfty evening. He was Roy Henry Jo'yee,- figed 22, . farmer, of Waiwera. The vietini together with his mother , and father were crossing the bridge on their way home when it. collapsed and the thfee of fhem fell into the river.Mr. Joyee; senr., assisted his wife to the bank but was unable to locate his son. The aceident oecurred at about S p.m. and the bod'y of deceased was recovered approximately two. hours later. Artificial respiration was applied but attempts to fevive him were unsuecessful. The river borders the farm on which deceased worked with his fatlier arid at the spot vvhere the I fatality occurred was approximately 75 j feet wide. Although the tide was full the bridge was about 25 feet above the level of the water. When examined it was found that a wire and hand rail of the bridge were broken.
