AUCKLAND, August 3. ■ Work in the hatch on the Matua which was ruled by the Marble Depaitment to be incompletely stowed was again refused by waterside worlcers on Saturday morning and the departure of the vessel for Buva has been tentatively set for Tuesday. Work on other hatclies on. the Matua was carried out by waterside workers until 11 a.m. on Saturday. There was no change in the ■ position of the four other overseas ships affec.ted by the dispute. The steamer Chanda, in which loading was stopped 011 Wednesday until one of her central holds was worked to avoid structural strain, remaiued idle on fciaturday morning and no work Ln the holds from which the men have been dismissed was done in the Rangitihi, Waiwera and Largs Bay. A stopwork meeting of Auckland watersiders has been called for Monday morning to hear a report from the union leaders 011 the dunnage dispute which has caused more than a we'ek's lioldup on. several overseas vessels. The national presideut of the Watersiders1 Union (Mr. Barnes) will leave Auckland after the meeting to attend a meeting of the union 's national executive in Wellington. More than a hundred passengers waiting to leave in the motorslrip Matua for the islands will have an enforced delay until Tuesday at least as a result of the dispute. Eight hundred aud ninety watersiders have been placed under penalty preventing them securing work for three days owing to the dunnage dispute.
