Ship for Immigrants The Government, through the British Ministry of War Transport, has been successful in securing the use of the vessel Atlantis which would leave on her initial voyage to New Zealand about September 2, said the Minister of Immigration, Mr. McLagan, yesterday. It was anticipated that 252 "assisted immigrants and 200 Boy Scouts returning from the World Jamboree would be carried. The Atlantis, which would accommodate 500 passengers, would make a further trip 'to New Zealand with assisted immigrants later in the year. Airmen Sentenced The two members of the fire fighting unit of the New Zealand Air Force at Whenuapai aerodrome who set fire to a building at the aerodrome "to demonstrate the unit's efficiency" appeared for sentence for arson,-- and each was admitted to four years' probation . by Mr. Jusdce Blair, who com- : mented that there was no element of risk to life in. the fire caused. The airmen sentenced were Douglas Gordon Robertson, aged 19, and Douglas Albert Edward Major, aged 22. Each man will be required to pay half of the £233 damage fco Government property.
