CARD PARTY AT TE HORO

Members of the Te Horo Women's Institute and their friends recently. met at Mr.- and Mrs. R. Johnson's home for a friendly game of cards. Those who did not play cards enjoyed the comfort of the bright fire. Mfs. AshdGV/n and Mrs. Spiers tied for the ladies' prize and in ihe cut the former proved the winner, while Mr. Desmond Connelly won the men's prize. There was a novelty card tabie and the lucky winners were Mrs. S. Strom and Mr. Evans. A delicious supper was served in the breakfast room. A prize presented by Mr. Ashdown was won by Private Roy Eagle, who has just reiurned from Japan. Mrs. Johnson-, president of the Women's Institute, said it gave her great pleasure to be able to greet so many friends on such a cold night. Mrs. Spiers thanked Mr. and Mrs. Johnson for entertaining in their home on behalf of the Women's Institute, and said all had enjoyed themselves and were looking forward to the next party in the near future.
