This class oi farming proposition was in. short suppiy in an entry of 3000 head of store sheep and' it was evident from the strength oi the inquiry that.many fariAers are still stoelcing up. Hoggets also showed 'a slight upward movement and wethers too enjoyed a very strong demand with lighter eonditioned sorts making dearer buving. A particularly good line oi" big :framed five-year ewes in lamb. to Southdowns topped the season's selling sheep of this age at 30s 7d. Two-tooths brought 41s Sd and young mixed aged ewes sold at 43s. Other mixed aged ewes made 31s. Forward eonditioned wethers were traded at 40s 3 d, others making 40s.' Lighter eonditioned sorts made 36s to 37s 6d. Top priee for very good wcther hoggets was 34s, another top line selling at 3cSs 5d. Smaller sorts made 2'0s 5d to 28s 4d Good ewe hoggets realised 30s 8d to 33s with smaller at 25s 2d. Quality was strongly featured in a varding of 1000 head of fat sheep and conipelition was keen with ewes showing a lirming tendency. Heavy wethers made 46s ld to 4Gs lOd. Prime §orts brought 41s 4d to 42s lOd and lighter 37s lOd to 39s 7d. Extra prime young ewes were traded at 38s 4d tp 41s 10d and other young ewes at 35s lOd to 3'is ld, with extra prime older ewes at 34s ld to- 35s 4d, prime to 32s lOd and untinished at 28s 4d. Heavy hoggets realised 41s 4d to 46s -ld, medium 34s 30(1 to 38s 7d and lighter 32s lOd. Althougli there were none of the sensational prices of last week, beef nie't with a strong sale despite a large yarding of 250 head., Bidding was well sustained throughout, heifers in particular commanding attention. Values were 3s to 4s per lOOibs above schedule. A iraft. of very well finished A.A. heifers sold at from £14. 13s 6d to £15 18s 60 to average £15 5s Other prime heifers realised £13 13s 6d to £14 .16s, lighter selling at £11 6s to £12 8s 6(1. lleavj 30ws were traded at £14 ls to £15 ls, prime at £13 to £13 16s, medium at £11 3s 6d to £12 ls and lighter £S 16s to £10 ls. Best beef sold at up to £23 18s 8d. Business in prime ox was reeorded as from £20 18s Od to £23 ISs .6d, medium selling at £19 18s Od and liglrt at £14 3s 6(1 to £18 ls. Quality two-year • baby ' ' beef sold at £11 6s to £13 18s 6d, runners at £8 to £10 6s a*nd vealeis at £5 1-7 s 6d. . Store cattle whieh, with the ofiering of 300 head, were in short suppiy, sold ctt about on par with recent market reajisations. Bulloeks brought £13 5s, 'rising three-year steers £11 to £11 8s, rising two-year steers £10, smaller £7 17s Od to £8 and weaner steers at £7 to £7 5s. Eniptv cows sold at £9 ls and a line of in-ealf cows was passed m at £9 7s Od. Rising 2-vear heifers were traded at £7 and weaner heifeis at £5 wliile a forward eonditioned lme of grown Hereford heifers made £10 ls.
