MUSICAL AND SOCIAL MATTERS DISCUSSED At Monday night's practice of the Levin Municipal Band numerous matters pertaining to the musical and social side of the band were discussed. _ The .conductor, Mr. G. R. Lester, reported that the learners' class was progressing favourably/ but there were more instruments available for any boys who wished to join the class and eventually take a full part in the junior as well as the senior organisation. The band is practising two

nights weekly at present in preparation for the forthcoming contest at Palmerston North, and ;as: night assisted at a concert and dance at Poroutawhao in aid of the Memorial Porch Fimd. It was decided that the band hold its first annual ball in September. It was also decided that a social evening be held in November at which the Horowhenua Pipe • Band will be the guests of the evening. /
