ENGLAND'S STRONG GRIP ON FOURTH TEST

Received Tuesday, 11 a.m. LONDON, July 28. England has a strong grip on the tourth Test match against Soutli Affida. At the end of the second day's play England leads by 142 runs on the first innings, with three wickets still to fall. A storm two hours before the start of play, which was postponed for one hour, caused England to con.inue their first innings on a soaked wicket. The pitch failed to dry otit during the day. HdttDn and Washbrook made the first opehing century stand by either side in Test cricket this season. England now has 317 ruhs for seven wicke.s against South Africa's total of 175 in their first infiings. HUtton made 100, Washorook 75, Edrich 43, Compton 30 and Yardley 36.
