WATERSIDERS' BAN ON DUTCH SHIPPING

ITo was confldent that the people o New Zealand and the watersider. desired to see trade (leveloped between this country and the Kar East, stated/ the national secretary of the X'ew Zealand Waterside Workers' Union (Mr. T. llill) today. However, thidesire, lie continued, was obviously governed by the preliminary require ment of a resoration of peace ari' democracv in lndonesia. The water side workers, Mr. Ilill said, had no. lifted tlie ban on Dutch sliipping which iiad been in operation since Ihe lattei part oi' 1945 in the interests of tln Indonesians. The union was aware of the hopes to resunie trade between New Zealand and the Ear East by nieans oi Dutch shipping, but tlie conditionin" factor was tlie onslaught upon th indonesians.
