Two grandmothers from Scotland, Mrs. Clara Mackenzie, aged 88, and Mrs. Helen Stoddard, aged 84, arrived at LaGuardia Airfield last night on the first stretch of their 16,000-mile aeroplane journey that will take them to New Zealand. The flight of the two octogenarians aeross two oeeans is described by offieial-s of the British Overseas Airways as a record. They are acconipaiiied by Mrs;. Mackenzie 's son, Major John Mackenzie, and his family together with Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Hodge, of Glasgow, with tlieir son, aged 10 years. The two families propose to settle in New Zealand0
