They all came forward in ifirsfc class condition. J There was a very large attend[ance of buyers from all parts of •the southern portion of the North 1 Island and competition from the ifirst to last lot was exceptionally jbrisk. Twelve of the cows broughtj £20 or more, while the 83 head | averaged the excellent price of £16 15s. The heifers were keenly sought 1 and realised the overall average of [ £17 5s, not including a purebred ; Shorthorn which brought £40. Two j heifers made £26 each, the top j price, while others sold at £24 10s 'and £23. There was a ready market for the pigs, which realised prices in excess of current market rates. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., quote the following range of prices: — Cows: July calvers, £16 10s, £18 10s, £22 10s, £23 10s, £25 10s; August do., £14, £14 10s, £15, £17 10s, £18, £18 10s, £19, £19 10s, £20, £21, £22; September do., £12, £15, £15 10s, £16; cows in milk, £15 10s, £18, £18 10s. Heifers: Springing, £15, £15 10s, £16, £16 10s, £17, £18, £19, £23, £24 10s, £26; heifers in milk, £15 10s, £17; purebred Shorthorn heifer, £40. Pigs: Stores, £3 Is to £3 15s; maiden sows, £11, £12, £12 15s; Berkshire boar, £19; sows to farrow, £11 10s, £12 10s, £13, £14, £16 10s. The pigs' houses were - also auctioned. Four brought £10 5s each, three £10 10s each and others £14 15s and £29.
