It was menuioned tnat the committee had aoout 20 .very urgent cases lor State houses, yet despiue this it was leR that it would oe at ieast six months before it had another unit to aiiocate. *Tt was ueciued to mvite Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P., to meet a depuLaiion from uhe committee, when he will be asked to make representations with a view to speeding up building. Five new appiications for State houses in Levin were received and added to the list. New applicaiions from Foxton numbered' tnree and one house was reported to have been allocated. Two allocations were made in Shannon. Eight servicemen applied for loans to build or purchase their own houses, the total value bemg £10,000, and these were reeommendecl to the Rehabilitation Board for approvai. Two furniture iuans were recommended. Five business loans of an aggregate value of £1900 were also recommended for approvai. One appiication for farm regrading was received and referred to the- farming subcommittee. Three servicemen made appiication for trade training.
