"MONTY" VISITS WEST COAST
- GREYMOUTH, Ju'ly 23b » Viseount Montgomery was greeted at Greymouth today by one of the largest erowds to assemble in the town, after a journey from Christchurch via Lewis Pass. Viseount Montgomery experxenced perfect weather for the visit. He lunched at the Maruia Springs Hostel from waere frozen snow on the road delaved progress. At Reefton the whoie town turned out to welcome him. Along the West Coast every country schoo.l olfered greetnigs, " Monty " slowing his car to a walking pace to return the greetings. At Ahaura he transferred to a closed car but again used the open car before arrival at Greymouth where the streets wero gay with buntiug and a crowd upwards of 5000 welconied him at the Regent Theatre. Viseount Montgomery leaves Greymouth early tomorro-w morning by car for Westport from where he will go to Nelson by plane and later in the day travel to Blenheim where he will spend the night, leaving next-.day for the North Island., . • - , i ' i| i. i. i t'i '
