SCOUT MEDAL OF MERIT FOR MR. L. F. MOSS

It was today announced by the Dominion Headquarters of the Boy Scouts' Association, that His Excellency the Governor-Generai, acting in his capacity as Dominion Chief Scout, had approved of the award of the Scout Association's Medal of Merit to Mrs. S. Hoggard, of Paraparaumu, and Messrs. Leonard Fraser Moss, of Otaki, and Allen Francis Eagles, of Khandallah. The award of Certificates of Merit to Arthur Herbert William Cook, and Robert Lepnard Claude Love, of Wellington and Pukerua Bay respectively, are also announced. Mrs. S. Hoggard has been actively associated with the movement for the last twenty years and had rendered outstanding service. In. the early days she was cubmaster of the Cub' Pack attached to the Angiican Home at Lower Hutt, and in 1931 became the district cubmaster and was awarded the Long Service Medal in 1932. Since then she has been constantly active, and has taken part in many training courses and other Scout and Cub activities. At present she is the cubmaster of the Paraparaumu Cub Pack Mr. L. S. Moss, of Mill Road, Otaki, was a Scout in 1914, and in 1924 became assistant scoutmaster of the st. James' Troop, Newtown, and scoutmaster in 1929. That year he was a member of the New Zealand contingent which attended the 21st birthday celebrations of scouting, and the jamboree at Arrow Park, England. In 1931 he was the district scoutmaster .for Wellington Central and holds the Scout Wood Badge. Of more recent years he has been district scoutmaster for the Otaki area, and group scoutmaster of the group there.
