ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

OTAKI BRANCH MEETS The annual general meeting of the Otaki branch of the Acelimatisation Society was recently held, when there were a large number of lic'ence holders and supporters present. Apologies were read from Messrs. D. Craig and W. Wilson. The chairman, Mr. C. C. Holmes, presented a very comprehensive report on the branch's activities during the year. This was heartily endorsed by those present and the chairman especially thanked all who had assisted in the liberation of fry and yearlings in the various rivers and streams in the district. The election of officers resulted: — Chairman: Mr. C. C. Holmes; secretary and treasurer: Mr. H. B. Edhouse; delegate to the Wellington Council:. Mr. C. C. Holmes; committee: Messrs. D. Craig, H. J. Jepson, J. Morrah, J. Neylon, C. Smith, F. Thorpe and W. Wilson. The committee submitted to the meeting a list of names for the position of honorary rangers for the district. Gn being approved by the meeting, the chairman stated that he would hand in the list 'to the Wellington Council at its next meeting. A general discussion o:n game and fish then followed, and some very useful suggestions were brought forward for the betterment of sport in this district.
