VOLCANO THREATENS CITY

The volcano, whieh is 13 miles northeast of Leon eity, poured hot stones and ashes over the surround- . ing country fof the tw'elfth day, dest-roying • an estiinated 280. square miles of Nrcaragua's riohest farm- , lands and leaving thousands homeiess. At one stage today the 1731 foot volcano spewed rocks and ashes over 2000 feet into the air. Officials tonight are considering the complete evacuation of Leon's 70,000 inhabitants. "Only a miraele can save Leon from destruetion, " said an official.
