WANDERERS' CHANCES BRIGHT

NASH CUP COMPETITION Saturday last was an unlucky day for Foxton seniors. In scraping home by a margin of one point, Otaki-Rahui, who did not flgure strongly in the championship, lowered Foxton's colours for the first time this season and also dealt a severe blow to their hopes of addIng a win in the Nash Cup competition to their championship victory. It is yet too early in the competition to attempt to forecast the result, but Foxton's defeat on Saturday gives Wanderers a brighter chance. It might well be that the honours may be with the clash which will take place between these two teams later in the round. The juniors commenced a round last Saturday for the Licensed Victuallers' Cup. Foxton, Tokomaru and Punahau in the north and Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Hui Mai in the south opened their points accounts. At the conclusion the team gaining the most points in the north will meet the same team in the southern division in the final. The third grade competition is now in its third and final round. College lead with 18 points, while Foxton and Old Boys follow closely behind. College suffered a defeat last Saturday and any of these teams could win the honours. The first two rounds of the fourth grade championship have been completed. The four leading teams, College A, Foxton, Paraparaumu and Old Boys, will now play another round and the points scored in this will be added to those of the first two rounds to decide the winners. If Old Boys do not continue College B will be the fourth team. The following table shows. the position of teams in the various competitions :
