ON THE GOLF LINKS
INTERESTING ANNUAL MATCH The Levin . Golf Club's annual match between' teams chosen by the president and vice-president took. place on Saturday last. The vice-president's team won the match by four games. In the singles the president's team won 9 of the 25 games, and three were halved. Del:ails are as follows, the president's team being mentioned first in each ihstance: — Singles: Phillips lost to Melville, King beat Murray, Hosie lost to Franklin, Eagar lost to H. Walker, Douds lost to Morris, Nicol beat Langel'an, Sweetzer beat J. Todd, Watts halved with A. Clarke, Bennett beat Richards, Long lost to V/. H. Walker, Fullarton beat McClune, W. Bull lost to T. Coutie, D. Clark lost to W. Clafk, James lost to Ogier, Smith lost to D. Todd, Wilmshurst lost to Corry, Hutton beat Carmichael, Bonner lost to Lester, Nockels lost to Fritchley, McShane beat Everrngham, H. Black halved with Hastedt, Hughes lost to M. Wilson, Saunders beat H. Bull, Frederikson beat C. Wallace, Wade halved with Thornley. Foursomes: Phillips and King beat Melville and Murray, Hosie and Eagar lost to Franklin and Walker, Douds and Nic.ci beat Morris and Langelan, Sweetzer and Watis beat J. Todd and A. Clarke, Bennett and Long halved with Richards and Walker, Fullarton and W. Bull beat McClune and Coutie, D. Clark and S. James lost to W. Clark and Ogier, Smith and Wilmshurst lost to D. Todd and Corry, Hutton and Bonner halved with Carmichael and Lester, Nockels and McShane lost to Fritchley and E'veringham, Black and Hughes lost to Hastedt and Wilson, Saunders and Frederikson beat H. Bull alid Wallace. On Sunday a team of 22 players was to have gone to Buckley for an inter-club game, but the weather proved too boisterous and though a number of the team did travel, no official games were played. It is hoped to be able to arrange the match later in the season. Players are reminded that the second qualifying round for the club championships will take place next Saturday, and a full muster is expected at the.links.
