Received Tuesday, 10.55 a.m. LONDON, Juiy 21. Both the British a'nd United States Governments have condemned the murder of the members of the Burmese Executive Council. Mr. Attlee, in the House of Commons today, said the brutal outrage in Burma had met with universal eondemnation. The underlying causes of the plot were not yet clear. Everything was being done to trace the culprits and fix responsibility. The British Governmem's attitude towards Burma's aspirations remained unchanged oy the shocking events. In Washington the United States Governmeni officially expressed horror at the "brutal assassinaion" of the members of the Burmese Executive Council. Reuter's Rangoon correspondent reports that the opening of the Constitueno Assembly's new session, fixed for Juiy 24, has been postponed until Juiy 28 because of the assassination of the Ministers. Colonel Let-ya, Deputy Inspec-,:or-General of the Burmese Army, has been sworn in as Defence Member of the Governor's Executive Council. He served as Deputy Commander-in-Chief under the dead Minister of External Affairs, U Aung San, against the Japanese. Police Search Intensified Troops armed with -machineguns patrolled the streets of Rangoon while the police intensified heir search for the assassins. Hundreds of people haye been arrested since the crime was committed. A big crowd collected at the prison gates shou'ing, "Tear him to pieces! Lynch him!" when U Saw was taken to Rangoon Central Gaol under heaVy guard. Seventeen leaders of the AllBurma Workers' Union have sent a letrer signed in blood to the AntiFascist People's Freedom League executive committee, pledging themselves ready to lay down their lives "'o annihilate" the murderers of U Aung San. The Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League issued a statement expressing the opinion that the murder plan was not carried out by a single organisation opposing the league, but "by organisations who were amalgamated for murder." Eight Now Dead It is reported from Rangoon that two Minisiers who were wounded in the attack have died, bringing the deathroll to eight. They are Sao Sam Htun, the Sawbwa of Mong Pawn, who was member for the Frontier Areas, and U Ba Choe, information member. A War Office official said " the British military authorities in Burma had taken "precautionary measures against the likeJihood of an uprising.
