Restricted Parking Area
The declaration of the area on the southern side of#Queen Street, between Oxford Street and the railway line, as a 20-minute parking area was -a suggestion made to last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council. It came from the Levin Junidr Chamber of Commerce, which pointed out that it would greatly assist people having business to transact at the post office. The council resolved to give the suggestion a Earthquake Alarmist "There are no grounds for making such a warning. It is alarmist talk and undoubtedly must create a lot of misgivihg," said the Acting Dominion Seismologist, Mr. R. C. Hayes, when referring ito a recent statement by the chairman of - the Red Cross Society, Mr. A. E. Gibbons, about the danger of earthquake risk. Mr. Gibbons was distinctly alarmist when urging vari-~ ous Red ' Cross centres to make sure of their emergency precatitions because earthquakes were getting nearer and nearer, Mr. Hayes said. There was no greater danger from earthquakes in Wellington today than before and Wellington was no more shaky an area than other districts in New Zealand.
