MANAWATU RIVER LOOP
v — — DEPUTATION TO MINISTER The Manawatu River loop, which is causing much discussion in this district, more especially with the Foxton people, is again in the news. Reporting to a recent meeting of the Foxton Borough Council, the Mayor of Foxton. (Mr. H. H. Podmore) said that during the month a deputation from the council had waited on the Minister of Works (Hon. R. Semple) with regard to the situation which had arisen in the loop. Mr. Podmore stated that they had received a very cordial welcome, and the absolute necessity of something being done- without delay to flush the- loop and deal with the problems of rhe borough and stripping mill as one were pointed out to the Minister. The town clerk (Mr. W. Trueman) submitted for consideration a proposal in regard to the flushing of the loop and Cr. Small made a suggestion in connection with water from Shannon. Cr. Small, amplifying the Mayor's remarks, said that the deputation received a very good hearing. The Minister was pleased with the information placed before him and promised that something would be done as soon as possible. The deputation was well worthwhile, he concluded.
