WOMEN'S SECTION OF R.S.A.

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Women's Seetion of the_ Shannon Recurned Services' Assoeiaiion was held in Laurvig's Hall on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance of ■ members present. The election of offieers for the coming year resulted as foliows:— Pauroness: Mrs. J. A. Easton; president: Mrs. C. Guerin (re-eiected unopposed) ; vice-presidents: Mesclames Morris, Ritchie and Burtt; secretary: Mrs. R. Quinlan (reelectedj ; treasurer: Mrs. E. Veale; competition steward: Mrs. W. Third; Press correspondent: Mrs. Sell i(re-elected) . The opportunity was take'n to announce the winrier of the points prize for the bloom competition for ihe year just passed. Mrs. J. Sinclair was again the winner, with Mrs. Sell filling the place of runner-up. The monthly competition took the form of an ar.icle .made from a sugar bag, and some very novel and useful articles were entered. The winner was Mrs. Sell, Mrs. Guerm bemg second and Mrs. Third third. In the bloom competition Mrs,. Guerin was first, with Mrs. Kenny secona-and Mrs. Third third. A letter was received from the local sub-branch of the Red Cross Society, advising that it was holding a street stall during September in aid of the "Save ihe Children" campaign. After a discussion as to ways and means that the Women's Seetion eould assist, ic was ultimately decided that it would conduct a competi ion at the August meeting for a child's pettieoat to fit a one to two-year-old, and these garments would be handed over to the Red Cross for its stall after the eompe ition had been judged. It is hoped that all members will make an effort to have an entry in the competition, as ihe result will be to help the Red Cross in its exceilent work. After the completion of the business the new silver badges of the W.S.R.S.A. were handed out to the members. The neat little badges were greatly appreciated by the lady members.. The hostesses were Mesdames Third. Kennv and Peni.
