OTAKI BOWLING CLUB

NEW COMMITTEE MEETS The first meeting of the newly- . elected committee of the Otaki Bowling Club was held on Tuesday night. There were present: Messrs. W. Wilson (president), M. J. McGilligan (secretary) , Les. Walsh, T. • V. Cahill, R. W. Jenkins, H. Cole, J. Snowden and H. Nicolson. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. J. D. Avery, E. T. Bartosh and R. Kearns. The president made reference to the splendid "season, and said he had no doubt that the coming one would be equally as successful and enjoyable. All members had worked amicably together, and had done well. The green for the comi'ng season was likely to be in very fine order. A letter was received from Mr. B. A. Guise, thanking the club for his re-election as its delegate to the centre, adding that he would do his best for the club. A donation was enclosed. Thanks were extended to Mr. Guise for the interest he had displayed. The Umpires' Association wrote thanking the club for its donation. A letter was read from the Women's Association in Wellington, stating it was anxious to get under way and that applieation had been made to the Wellington City Council for help. It was decided to donate £1 ls to St. Joseph's Orphanage, Lower Hutt. Officers were elected as follows: — Sole selector: Mr. ✓Les. Walsh; match committee: The president, secretary and Mr. Cahill; green supervisor: Mr. E. T. Bartosh; club's umpire; Mr. T. V. Cahill; coach for new players: Mr. R. Kearns; refreshment committee; Messrs. Cole, Walsh and Cahill. In connection with refreshments it was pointed out that on account of increased prices for foodstuffs it was found that the old charges could not be adhered to. It was agreed that the charge for each day be sixpence. Paekakariki Club Officers of the Paekakariki Bowling Club have been elected as follows: — Patron; Sir Charles Norwood: president: Mr. J. E. Hanratty; vicepresident and secretary: Mr. A. J. Eariey; treasurer: Mr. B. Bevan; committee: Messrs. "J. G. Proudfoot A. Nicol, A. E. Smith, H. Keats, J. Roper, G. L. Peck, J. T. Hopkinson; centre delegate: Mr. W. Gilbert; au.ditor: Mr. E. Breeze; green superintendent: Mr. H. Keats.
