WOMAN'S SPINE FRACTURED IN FIRE JUMP

GREYMOUTH, July 13. The fact that she had suffered a fraeture of the spine was on Friday diseovered in the case of one of the survivors of the Franz Josef Glacier hotfel annexe ' fire, Miss Doreen Walsh, of Kilgour Road, Greymouth, who among others jumped to safety from 'the blazing building's second storey. Her condition is . reported as satisfactoryv and she hasbeen admitted' to the Grey Hospital* where she will probably require to be placed in plaster for a term of possibly three months.'. ' ' ' v. After her return from the south, Miss Walsh was incapacita'ted, but it was a surprise to hnd that she, was suffering such a disability when medical atten tion was procured. Frank William Epps, whose heroic actions were a feature of the rescue work, remains a patient in the West: land Hospital, Hokitika, where he ia progressing satisfaetoriiy. The other two persohs injured, two young Greymouth women, have returned to their liomes.
