CHRIBTCHUIICH, July 14. No work was done on the Lyttelton waterfront today, the watersiders having decided to take a holiday as a protest against methods alleged to have been used by the police to obtain evidence against a watersider eharged with attcmpted theft. . Only four ships were affected by the hold-up, the small eoastaJ vessel Melva, the coastal ship Kopara, the inter-colonial ship Wellpark and the Saiuinver which is in Lyttelton to bunker. The other two ships in port, the Kannan (in dock) and Matangi (overhauling) are not working.
