Speaking at the annual conferenee of the National Union of Tailors and' Garment Makers in London, Sir Stafford Cripps took a courageo'uS ste'p when he said the Board of Tradfeproposed to antiori^e the manufacture of more men's suitings ahd clothing and to redress the halance by cutting d'owh' the quantity of clothing made for women. "Woifieh ah usuM sbehf to' havegot away -With it at the expense of mere man," said Sir Stafford. "We are going to take the man's side for the niomeht because' we tbink justicd' points* that way. Perhaps if husbands spent more on their clothes and less' on* their wives- it might rigftf the balance — that is to say, if they dare to do so! "
