Maori Coneert The public of Shannon and district will have the opportunity of witnessing one of the best Maori concerts ever presented in this town, when the Maoris of Poutu Pah give their concert in the Druids' Hall this evening. Apart from the local artists, there will be a number of visitors. Erosion Endangers House Successive floods have caused the Manawatu River to encroach on the Bryant Estate property, near the eight-roomed house oecupied by Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Jeffrey and family at M'outoa. Last week's flood brought the- eourse of the river right to the stop-bank which keeps the water back from the nearby house, making the removal of the building to higher ground imperative as soon as possible. R.S.A. Parcel Appeal With the recent donation of £1 from Mrs. J. Hallam, thc Shannon R.S.A. parcel appeal has reached a total of £66. The secretary of the R.S.A. (Mr. E. J. Gunning ) stated yesterday that his organisation was anxious to assist the families of needy ex-servicemen in Britain by sending food parcels. Two shipments of 44 parcels each had so far. been dispatched. The first were paid for by the R.S.A. members and the second from the appeal fund. Foxton Should See "Monty" If all goes well, residents of Foxton should have the opportunity of seeing one of the most distinguished visitors to these shores, FieldMarshal Lord Montgomery. Since it was known that he was to arrive at Ohakea by air on July 16 and motor to Wellington, local institutions have been busy endeavouring to have a short stop made at Foxton and a promise has been made that if Lord Montgomery arrives at the aerodrome in daylight the car conveying him to Wellington would drive , slowly thrpugh . the Main Street, instead of taking the direct route along Johnston Street.
