Field .Marshal Alontgomery denied making aay sucli statement. Money for rearmament and re-equipment spent on w-eapons which might rapidly beeome out of date in a scientilic world, would be quite wrong. Any available money should be spent on scientilic research. Carry on with wliat was left over from the war and intensify scientific research. Keep well ahead in the progress of science so that you are well equipped to be ahead of vour potential enemies. Too many heartv handshakes have injured Field Alontgomery 's right hand which has had to be dressed by a doctor. A poweri'ul handgrip in Ifobart is believed to liave started the damage.
