FLARE UP IN RIOTING
Received Tuesday, 10.55 p.m. CALCUTTA, July 8. Newspapers estimate that in the last 24 hours, casualties as a result of communal disfrurbances totalled 50 killed and 300 injnred. Trouble flared up when unruly elements began stone throwing. Soon knives were flashing and then there were shots and bombs. The trouble spread tbroughout the city. The police used tear gas to dispel the worst of the mobs.
