The United States Atomic Energy Commission is making an effort to develop peacetime uses of atomic onergy but the Commission 's main activities are devoted to manufacturing bombs, said Senator McMahon, former chair- - man of the Senate Atomic Energy Committee. Broadcasting, Senator McMahon said experimentation and research are going ahead on peacetime applications of atomic energy, particularly in the uses of byproducts in the treatment of disease, but the' present state of the world requires Unitea States to continue stockpiling atoxnlc bombs.
