MORE CARS AVAILABLE FOR EX-SERVICEMEN

WELLINGTON, July 7. Arrangements have been made with a htrge motor asseniblv and distribut-ing-flrm. for a limited number, of additional cars to be made available solely for purchase by ex-ser vicemen, said the Minister of Rehabilitation, Mr. C. l'\ Skinner, tonight. The cars, whieh would come forward in small quantities eacli rnonth for the next six months, would be distribnted at the direction of the Rehabilitation Department aild would, in general, be allocated equally to the Auckland, Wellington and South Island .districts. The Minister said the vehieles would be allocated only to those ex-serviqemen considered to be inost urgentlv in need of thenj as es sential equifxment in their post-war vocations. . Mr. Slcinner stressed that this new allocation was in additiou to arrangenients- for preference to ex-servieemon made some tiine ago witli the New
Zealand Motor Iniporters' Association and added that ex-servicemen would still receive the same margin of preference froni niembers of the association, in consultation with the Rehabilitation Departraent, as they had previously. Special provisions had been raade covering anv disposal of the cars by successful applicants within 12 months of purchase, to ensure that they go to other eligible ex-servicemen.
