HIGH MORAL CODES EXISTED AMONG MAORI TRIBES
His family had had an association of 115 years with the Maoris and no one had obtained a greater insight into their lives than his people. They had become in a sense- "white Polynesians," said Mr. Hector McDonald, of Levin, whe^ speaking to members of the Levin 1 Juhior Chamber of Commerce last week. Recalling the early days of Horowhenua, he said that the tribes had strong moral codes. The white women in the district could ride alone without fear of being molested. He would always put the Maori on a high plane in his world.
